11. Jesus has power to give Holiness

The Bible and the Quran both says that, God is holy and Holiness is His quality.

Leviticus 19:2 "Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: 'You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy."

And Quran confirms that Jesus was holy as we read in:

Mary(Marium)

Sura 19:19, He said: "Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son.

Holiness is God’s quality. The whole Bible says that God is holy. And when we look in the life of Jesus we can see that Jesus was holy and there was no sin or evil in Him as the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:21, "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

Jesus was without sin but became sin for us so that we can come out of our sins and the sinful nature and live a holy life.

Only Jesus can give us a holy life. He promised a holy life for those who will accept Him as we read in 1 John 1:7, "….and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." And also we read in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

When a person accepts Jesus as his/her personal savior, He not only washes and clears them of all their past but also gives them a new life - a holy life - a life full of peace, joy and happiness that this world can not give.

12. Foreknowledge of Jesus

Jesus had knowledge of the things that are before Him. No one can foresee the things that are going to happen in our lives except God who knows everything and who is all knowing. When we read the New Testament we see that Jesus told about the lives of people. For example he spoke about the life of the Samaritan woman in John 4:18 "for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly."

He not only told about the lives of people but He also declared in detail His purpose in coming to this world, His life, His impending death and resurrection etc.

Peter says about Jesus, "Lord, You know all things" as we read in John 21:17, He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep."

Let us see more about His foreknowledge:

He showed Peter where to find fishes:-

Peter and the other disciples went for fishing but on that night they could not catch any fish.

But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

Then Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him, "No."

And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.

(John 21:4-6)

Peter and the other disciples were professional fishermen. They tried during the whole night but could not catch any fish and when Jesus asked them, "Children, have you any food." They said, "No." They had nothing to offer. They worked very hard for the whole night but their labor was in vain. And they had nothing in hand. But Jesus showed them where they have to cast their net so that they could find fish. When they did as was told by Jesus, they got a multitude of fish.

Yes, because Jesus is God, He knew where to cast their nets so that they could get fish. No one can know these things but God alone.

You will be with me in Paradise

On the cross Jesus told the thief that, he will be with him in paradise on the same day as we read in Luke 23:39, "Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us."

But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

"And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong."

Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom."

And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."

(Luke 23:40-43)

How could Jesus have known all these things? How He knew that after death, He would be going to heaven? No doubt, it was His foreknowledge about the future! He said in John 8:14, "Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going."

He proclaimed His death and resurrection:-

He told His disciples precisely that He will lay down His life and will rise up again.

John 10:15, "As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

John 10:17, "Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again.

Matthew 17:22-23, "Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up." And they were exceedingly sorrowful.

He proclaimed His death on the Cross

He foretold about His death and sufferings on the Cross as we read in Matthew 26:28, "For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins."

Also the Bible says in Matthew 20:19, "and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again."

Jesus knew before hand that He is going to shed His precious blood for the remission of the sins of people.

He said, I will come again

He told many a times that He will be coming again to judge the world. We read in Matthew 24:27, "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be."

Matthew 24:30, "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory."

13.   He has power to deliver us

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

"To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,"

"To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified."

(Isaiah 61:1-3)

Jesus read this portion from the book of the prophet Isaiah when He went in to the synagogue at Nazareth and after reading He said, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

(Luke 4:21)

Not only did He proclaim but He also proved it by His mighty deeds. He healed the sick and brokenhearted, He wiped away the tears of people, He liberated the captives who were in bondage of sin and addictions and He consoled those who mourned and gave them the oil of joy. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

(Hebrew 13:8)

He is continuing to do the same thing today also. There is no change in His power or in His work. He can pull you out from your sins and addictions no matter how much deep you may have sunk in sin. No matter how broken you may be, He can heal your brokeness and He can give you peace, joy and Happiness that the world cannot give.
